We begin taking puppy deposits once the puppies are born. That way we know what sexes we have and that they are all strong and healthy. Puppies are chosen in order of deposit. The deposit to ensure a puppy is held for you is $300. For deposits we take checks, Zelle, Paypal (friends and family) or payments on the GoodDog platform. Deposits are non-refundable in the event if the buyer changes their mind for some reason, or is unable to complete the purchase. If for any reason we are unable to provide a puppy of the desired sex to the buyer, the deposit will be refunded in full.

Puppy Selection

All of our puppies are given colored collars at birth and will wear that color until they go to their new homes. This helps us monitor the puppies’ physical development and personalities as they develop.

Some breeders will pick a puppy for you. They feel that being with the puppies from birth makes them best able to pick a puppy that will suit your lifestyle. It makes a certain amount of sense but really takes the fun and excitement out of choosing your own puppy! Or, breeders sometimes expect the buyer to pick a puppy from a picture at a week or two of age, before even their eyes are open and certainly before you can get any idea of personality or appearance. I would never want to have to pick a puppy from newborn photos, or have no say in choosing a puppy that will be my baby and an important member of my family!

Our puppies are chosen in the order deposits on the litter are received. By 5-6 weeks they are showing differences in both appearance and personality. So during that week we take individual photos and/or videos of each puppy and send them to the families with deposits in. I also discuss any differences in personality I have observed so the buyer has that information to aid in their choice. The puppies will all be microchipped prior to 6 weeks, and the microchip numbers will be listed, so the Buyer can be assured they get the puppy they chose!
Puppies will have their first vaccination, multiple dewormings, be microchipped and Vet checked before going home with their families.

Our Contract/Guarantee will be sent to the Buyer to review at the time the deposit is placed. We are happy to answer any questions. The Contract will be signed by both Breeder and Buyer when the puppy goes home.

AKC Registration

All of our puppies go home with their AKC registration. There are 2 types of registration available through AKC, Limited or Full. We prefer that our puppies go to loving, forever pet families, so place them on Limited Registration. In general, when a breeder sells quality puppies with Full registration they are sold at a substantially higher price.

Limited Registration – AKC registered without breeding rights. No offspring are eligible for AKC registration, and the Dog can not compete in breed conformation events. The dog is eligible to be entered and titled in any other AKC licensed or member event. These events include: Obedience, Rally, Agility, Tracking, Field Trials, Hunting Tests, Herding, Lure Coursing, Earthdog, Fast Cat, CAT, Scentwork, Junior Showmanship, Trick Dog and CGC.

Full Registration – AKC registered with breeding rights. Offspring can be registered with AKC and the dog can be shown in all AKC events, including conformation competition.

Getting your new puppy home

We are in East Texas and there are several options to get your puppy home, depending on where you live.

If you are reasonably close, I am happy to drive, at no charge, up to 4 hours round trip to meet you with the puppy. More than that can be arranged for a fee to help cover expenses.

I don’t ship puppies alone in the cargo compartment. Shipping cargo is not always safe, is too hard on a puppy and has become very difficult since Covid. Most airlines no longer ship pets this way, only in the cabin accompanied by someone.

If you live at a distance you can fly into Dallas or Shreveport. I can meet you at the airport and you can fly home with the puppy in the cabin with you. Or many people now use Flight Nannies, who accompany the pup on a flight to the new owners airport where the family meets them and takes the puppy home. This is safe, fast and the puppy is in the cabin with the Nanny, not alone and scared in a cargo hold.

There are also companies that do ground transport, this is a good option also.

You can find many Flight Puppy Nannies and Pet ground transport companies on facebook if you do a search. Also groups to post your specific info on where/when you need a pup delivered and make a match with a Nanny.

What is Good Dog?

Breeders are screened and if accepted are given a rating. We have received “Excellent”, the highest available. Good Dog has their own payment platform, and if you contact us, or any other breeder, through their website you must use their payment platform for deposits and final payments. There are two options for payments, the first has no added charge, the second (Protection & Support) has an added fee and also includes free access to their online Puppy Training Program.
